LUNAR for Windows 1.0 - Microsoft Windows Screen Manager/Enlarger
LUNAR for Windows has been produced to enable you to enlarge the screen of a
Microsoft Windows application up to eight times its normal size, and to manage
the enlarged screen. LUNAR incorporates the following features:
* Choice of Magnification
1x, 2x, 4x, 6x, and 8x magnification, selectable from hot keys.
* Automatic Following of the Mouse Pointer
LUNAR can automatically follow the mouse pointer, with selectable scroll
margins and scroll speeds.
* Automatic Following of Menus and Dialog Boxes
LUNAR can automatically follow all windows, Dialog boxes, controls within
Dialog boxes, pop-up and pull-down menus. It can also optionally centre on
the LUNAR screen any menu or Dialog box that appears. This automatic
tracking feature draws your attention immediately to any menu or Dialog box
that appears.
* Automatic Following of Text Entry Cursors
LUNAR can automatically follow the text entry cursors, such as those found in
Word for Windows, Notepad, and Write.
* Automatic Following of the Keyboard Focus
LUNAR can automatically move the mouse pointer (and therefore the display)
to the current keyboard focus, selectable with a hot key.
* Overview facility
LUNAR has an overview facility, so that you can see where you are on the
'real' screen and view the layout. (Selectable with a hot key.)
* Line View Facility
LUNAR has a Line View facility, which allows you to view the window currently
under the mouse pointer as a single line moving across the centre of the
LUNAR screen. This is a form of the popular 'scrolling' feature of our
earlier software. (Selectable with a hot key.)
* Help facility
LUNAR has a context-sensitive on-line help facility.
* User-definable hot keys
All hot keys are user-definable, to avoid key clashes with other Windows
applications.
* User-definable Mouse Pointer colour
You can change the mouse pointer to a colour of your choice, independent of the
application running.
* If you run a DOS application in a Window, LUNAR will follow the
applications DOS cursor!
* Automatic Application Configuration
All these features allow you to tailor LUNAR for efficient and 'intelligent'
presentation of information. Once such customisation has been created for a
particular application, these settings can be saved and reloaded automatically
every time that application is started. This is a powerful feature of LUNAR,
because you can go on to create configuration files for all your Windows
applications, and have them automatically load when you start your
Windows application!

LUNAR for Windows - Demonstration Disk Notes
How to use this disk:
Your LUNAR demonstration disk contains a version of LUNAR for Windows which
can be used for 15 minutes at a time. (After 15 minutes you will need to
re-start Windows in order to run LUNAR for Windows again.)
To run the demonstration program:
* Firstly, use PKUNZIP to "unzip" all the files onto a blank formatted
floppy disk. (The demonstration program requires that the file
LWIN.DLL is in drive A: for it to run.)
* Insert your demo disk into drive A:.
* Type in the seven letters INSTALL, and press the <ENTER> key.
INSTALL will rename your Windows display driver to ORIG.DRV, and install
LUNAR's own Windows display driver VGA.DRV in its place. (LUNAR for
Windows only works in the standard Windows VGA 640x480x16 colour mode.)
* Start Microsoft Windows in the usual manner. i.e. type WIN and
press <ENTER>.
* From the Program Manager open the File menu by pressing <ALT> and <F>.
* Select the option Run by pressing <R>.
* When the the Run dialog box appears type A:\LUNARWIN and
press <ENTER>. (LUNAR will then start.)
Using LUNAR yourself:
Altering the Magnification
1. To increase the magnification:
Click on the Magnify button.
(or press <SHIFT> and <CTRL> and <Num Pad Plus>.)
The magnification will increase to 2x.
Successive clicks on the Magnify button will increase the magnification
in steps of 2x, up to 8x magnification. (i.e. 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x
magnifications.)
2. To decrease the magnification:
Click on the Reduce button.
(or press <SHIFT> and <CTRL> and <Num Pad Minus>.)
The magnification will decrease by 2x.
Successive clicks on the Reduce button will decrease the magnification
in steps of 2x, down to no magnification
3. Alternatively, you can switch directly to the magnification of your
choice by pressing one of the following hot keys:
<SHIFT> and <CTRL> and <Num Pad 1> for normal size.
<SHIFT> and <CTRL> and <Num Pad 2> for 2x magnification.
<SHIFT> and <CTRL> and <Num Pad 4> for 4x magnification.
<SHIFT> and <CTRL> and <Num Pad 6> for 6x magnification.
<SHIFT> and <CTRL> and <Num Pad 8> for 8x magnification.
Overview mode
The text and graphics that appear on a LUNAR screen are just an
enlarged version of a section of the 'real' screen.
This can be demonstrated as follows:
1. Enter LUNAR's Overview facility, by pressing
<SHIFT> and <CTRL> and <Num Pad 0>.
You will see the screen change to a normal display and a rectangle
appear in reverse video on the screen. This is called LUNAR's
Overview facility because it gives you an overview of the 'real'
screen. The text that appears in the rectangle is what LUNAR magnifies,
2. Move the rectangle around by moving the mouse.
3. Finally, leave LUNAR's Overview facility, by pressing any key
or clicking any mouse button.
Line View mode
Line View mode allows you to view the window currently under the mouse
pointer as a single line moving across the centre of the LUNAR screen.
This is a form of the popular 'scrolling' feature of our earlier
software.
1. To enter Line View mode, press:
<SHIFT> and <CTRL> and <Num Pad Period>
2. To start the text scrolling, press:
<SPACE>
3. To leave it, press:
<ESC>
While in Line View mode:
To start or stop a smooth
scroll of the window under
the mouse pointer across the
LUNAR screen, press: <SPACE>
To increase the speed of the
scroll, press: <Up arrow>
To decrease the speed of the
scroll, press: <Down arrow>
To directly select the speed
of the scroll, press: <1>-<7>
(1=slowest, 7=fastest)
To move to start of the
previous line, press:
